For AP human geography's "Be The Change Project", I can soundly say that my classmates and I have put in lots of critical thinking and hard work studying and coming up with our topics. I have chosen my topic which is Veteran PTSD Awareness. PTSD, for those who haven't heard, is an effect of going through a traumatic experience. There are two forms of PTSD, short and long term. Short term is when one experiences nightmares and flashbacks for a couple weeks or months and it is actually healthy, it is the way our brain copes with being in a life threatening scenario by making you not want to relive it, but long term is when your brain cannot stop reminding you about your old scenario and feels in danger all the time. Going back to Veterans, this can happen from seeing dead bodies, being shot at or actually being shot among other things, and after service members return home it can negatively affect their lives by coming between them and relationships, jobs and even just recreation. One of the biggest problems is that many seek no treatment, more can't afford treatment and some are even denied treatment. I implore my readers to do what they feel is right and support our vets, especially those who suffer from PTSD, and if you would like to know more refer to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
In America we live what we could call the dream, most of us have food, water and shelter. But some of us don't, some have fallen on hard times and some were born into them. Even more so situations are dire in LDC's (less developed countries), with wars, famines and disease. We in Enumclaw Highschool's AP Human Geography class are all going to make a difference, and I am reaching out to my audience, fans, family and friends to support the ideas my classmates and I will be trying to put in motion. I like to believe none of us here are doing this assignment for a grade, but to really make a difference. And I ask your help in spreading our ideas and plans to help those in need, help us spread the word. May it be men, women or children we are trying to help, you can help too.
